An 11-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped during a village function Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, police said. Two men, in their mid-20s, have been detained in connection with the incident that occurred on Thursday, they said. According to a complaint filed by the survivor's father, the girl had gone to a water counter outside the function venue around 8 pm when two persons on a scooter kidnapped her at knife-point. The accused allegedly took her to a deserted location outside the village where they raped her, the police said on Saturday. Following the assault, the perpetrators abandoned the girl near a canal. The girl returned home around 9.30 pm and narrated the ordeal to her family on Friday morning, leading to the registration of a formal police complaint. Ayodhya Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari said, ''Based on the written complaint, a case has been registered. Both the accused have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.''
