AAP MLA Gopal Rai on Saturday said ''water service centres'' have been set up in Babarpur constituency to provide relief to people working outdoors amid rising temperatures. The centres will provide round-the-clock access to drinking water stored in earthen pots for labourers, auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers, homeless persons, pedestrians, delivery workers, street vendors, security guards and sanitation workers, Rai said. In a post on X, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said the initiative has been launched in view of the severe heat conditions being witnessed across several parts of the country due to the ''Super El Niño'' effect. He said caps and 'gamchhas' to protect people from the heat, ORS packets and plants for environmental conservation were also distributed during the campaign. Rai said helping people during extreme weather conditions and ensuring support for vulnerable sections of society was a collective responsibility.
