Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said every day in India is dedicated to mothers while recalling a personal note that he used to touch his mother's feet every day and continues to light a lamp before her picture even after her death. Addressing a gathering at the launch of two books authored by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, The Bench, the Bar and the Bizarre and The Lawful and the Awful, Shah said, ''I used to touch my mother's feet every day, and even after she is no more, I light a lamp before her picture every day.'' ''In our country, every day is dedicated to mothers,'' he said. Amit Shah appreciated Tushar Mehta for dedicating the books to his mother and launching them on Mother's Day. The home minister described Mehta as not only the solicitor general of India and a knowledgeable lawyer, but also his friend. Shah also said that the Constitution and the judiciary have made significant contributions in strengthening and deepening the roots of India's democracy.
