The Enforcement Directorate (ED) took former West Bengal minister Sujit Bose into custody, marking a significant arrest under the newly elected BJP administration. Bose faces charges in a money laundering case tied to a recruitment scam involving various municipalities, including Dakshin Dum Dum.
Officials allege that the former Trinamool Congress leader provided jobs in exchange for monetary gains, with fraudulent actions involving flats and traced bank deposits. Bose was arrested after being evasive and inconsistent during questioning by the ED at the CGO Complex office in Kolkata.
The investigative agency, acting on a CBI FIR, discovered incriminating documents suggesting Bose's involvement. The ED's probe also connects to the West Bengal Teacher's recruitment scam, exposing manipulated OMR sheets and illegal appointments in multiple municipalities.
