David Venturella Steps Up: New Leadership at ICE
David Venturella, former Geo Group executive, is set to become the acting head of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, succeeding Todd Lyons. His appointment, announced by DHS, aligns with changes following President Trump's aggressive immigration agenda. Venturella recently led detention contracts and retired from Geo Group in 2023.
David Venturella, previously an executive at the Geo Group, has been named the acting leader of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. His appointment follows Todd Lyons' departure, as confirmed by a representative from the Department of Homeland Security.
Venturella, who departed from the Geo Group in early 2023, had been overseeing the division handling detention contracts at DHS. Venturella's appointment coincides with DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin's transition into leadership of the Cabinet agency supervising ICE.
The appointment happens during a period transforming immigration enforcement efforts initiated under Trump's administration, with ICE previously expanding its operations and increasing arrests across major cities.
