In a shocking incident echoing the Nirbhaya case, a 30-year-old woman was gang-raped by a bus driver and conductor in northwest Delhi's Mangolpuri area. The assault occurred late on May 11 when she inquired about the time and was dragged inside a private sleeper bus.
The local police quickly responded, arresting the suspects and launching further investigations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikram Singh confirmed the arrests while highlighting efforts to gather evidence, including CCTV footage, to strengthen the case. An FIR was registered promptly based on the victim's testimony.
Public figures like former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal condemned the attack, underscoring societal flaws in preventing such crimes. The Aam Aadmi Party labeled the incident as a 'big shame,' reminiscent of past horrors, stressing the need for systemic changes to protect women.
