Himachal's Real Estate Scrutiny: CS Orders Vigilance Probe

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta has ordered an investigation into potential irregularities in Joint Development Agreement real estate projects under the state's RERA. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau must submit documents in 15 days. This initiative probes possible violations of local land reform laws.

In a move to ensure transparency, Himachal Pradesh's top bureaucrat, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, has taken steps to scrutinize real estate projects in the state. The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has been tasked with delivering pertinent documents within a 15-day timeframe related to Joint Development Agreement projects overseen by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).

The probe focuses on potential violations of Section 118 of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, 1972. The officials are delving into suspected irregularities concerning land agreements between local farmers and outside non-agriculturists. Concerns have arisen as prior demands for information have been unmet despite multiple requests, as highlighted in correspondence from the Chief Secretary to the Director General of Vigilance.

With this inquiry, the vigilance authorities are charged with determining if the RERA has thoroughly examined the financial standing and revenue records of project promoters, aligning with legal obligations under the RERA Act. This investigation marks a significant stride in addressing allegations of misconduct within the real estate sector.
