Madhya Pradesh HC Rules Bhojshala as Saraswati Temple Amid Religious Dispute

The Madhya Pradesh High Court declared the Bhojshala complex in Dhar a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, amidst a long-standing religious dispute. The Madhya Pradesh High Court issued a significant verdict, recognizing the disputed Bhojshala complex in Dhar district as a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. This decision marks a major victory for the Hindu community, which has long claimed the site as sacred.

The court advocated for the Muslim community, which considers the 11th-century monument as the Kamal Maula Mosque, to request separate land for mosque construction. In the court's observations, it was noted that the Bhojshala temple previously served as a center for Sanskrit learning.

A scientific survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) concluded that the monument's original structure was a temple, supporting the court's decision. The ruling emphasized harmonious resolution of religious disputes within the district.
