Operation RAGEPILL: Unveiling the Global Captagon Trafficking Network

The Narcotics Control Bureau dismantled an international drug syndicate trafficking Captagon, known as the 'jihadi drug'. A total of 227.7 kg, valued at Rs 182 crore, was seized. The operation highlighted India's significant role as a transit point. A Syrian national was arrested in connection with the case.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) achieved a major breakthrough by capturing an international drug syndicate involved in Captagon trafficking, seizing 227.7 kg worth Rs 182 crore. The announcement was made by Home Minister Amit Shah, who praised the NCB for this significant consignment seizure.

Known as the 'jihadi drug', Captagon, historically linked to fenethylline, is associated with extremist networks in West Asia. It enables prolonged wakefulness and heightened aggression, utilized in conflict zones. This bust underscores India's commitment to tackling drug trafficking.

The operation revealed India as a pivotal transit point for Gulf-bound shipments. A Syrian national's arrest and subsequent seizure of Captagon at Gujarat’s Mundra port evidenced this. Authorities discovered Captagon hidden in a chapati-cutting machine and wool shipment, destined for Saudi Arabia.
