A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to probe dowry harassment allegations involving a former judge and his lawyer son in Bhopal. This development follows the death of Twisha Sharma, found hanging at her home in Katara Hills. The team, led by ACP Rajnish Kashyap, aims to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
Sharma, who married lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025, was discovered deceased on Tuesday night. Police are actively seeking Singh, who, alongside his retired judge father, is facing charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita's provisions related to dowry death and harassment. Multiple police teams have been deployed for his arrest.
The deceased's family from Noida alleges that Sharma was murdered by her in-laws. The SIT will explore various leads, including dowry harassment, physical abuse, and possible evidence destruction. While the retired judge has been granted anticipatory bail, a decision on Singh's pre-arrest bail plea is expected soon.
