In a disturbing case of vehicle fraud, two men rented an SUV from a local car rental shop, purporting to embark on a two-day trip. However, the vehicle was later sold in Rajasthan for Rs 2.3 lakh, authorities reported on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Manoj Panwar and Sumit, hail from Bahadurgarh and Jhajjar, respectively. They were apprehended and brought before the court, which ordered a two-day police custody, officials confirmed.

The scam unraveled when the car rental business owner, based in Sector 6, filed a complaint after the vehicle was not returned. The suspects were captured following an investigation by Sector 5 police, revealing they had previously engaged in criminal activities.
