Uttar Pradesh Launches OBC Commission for Rural Bodies

The Uttar Pradesh government has officially sanctioned the establishment of a five-member Other Backward Classes (OBC) commission to determine reservation allocations within rural bodies.

This decision, made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marks a significant step towards extending proportional representation to OBCs in the state.

Chaired by a retired high court judge, the commission's six-month tenure may be extended, aiming to provide 27% reservation for OBCs in panchayat bodies, aligning with Supreme Court directives.
