A devastating incident unfolded in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, where nine family members, among them a seven-month-old infant, sustained severe burn injuries following a suspected LPG leak that sparked a fire.
The mishap occurred around 8 pm on Sunday in the village of Pilkhini while food was being prepared at Santosh Singh's residence. Authorities report that a domestic LPG cylinder leaked during cooking, causing an explosion and engulfing the small home in flames.
Local police quickly responded to the scene, transporting the injured to a health facility in Gopalganj before referring them to a hospital in Fatehpur. Due to the critical nature of eight victims, they were later taken to Kanpur using a green corridor for expedited medical treatment. Preliminary findings suggest the blast's origin was the igniting of leaked gas, not a cylinder explosion. District officials are actively involved in monitoring the situation and supporting the affected families.
