On May 25, former CRPF Director General K Vijay Kumar will receive the prestigious Padma Shri award from President Droupadi Murmu. Known for his leadership in combating insurgency and terrorism, Kumar's illustrious career in the Indian Police Service has been marked by significant achievements and commendable service.
Kumar notably led the operation that brought the infamous forest brigand Veerappan to justice, ending a two-decade-long pursuit. His tenure as CRPF Director General between 2010 and 2012 was pivotal in transforming the force's operational capabilities following the Dantewada Maoist attack.
In his advisory role in the Union Home Ministry, Kumar played a key role in managing security in Jammu and Kashmir, especially during the volatile period surrounding Article 370's revocation.
