The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday praised the governments of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal for banning roadside namaz, highlighting the importance of keeping streets open for public movement and convenience.
VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal supported Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's assertion that roads should solely serve transportation purposes. Bansal criticized the use of roads for prayers as a show of strength by specific communities, disrupting traffic and public access, particularly during Fridays and Eid.
Similar measures by West Bengal, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, were also commended, with hopes expressed that this would ensure roads remain unimpeded, facilitating smoother commuter traffic and emergency services.
