The Mizoram government has reversed its decision to re-employ retired official R Lalrodingi as Director of the Tourism Department. The reversal comes after significant objections from influential student group Mizo Zirlai Pawl, leading authorities to keep her re-employment in abeyance.

Lalrodingi, who retired from her role as Additional Director in the Commerce, Industries, Geology, and Mining Department on April 30, was approved for re-employment as Tourism Director starting May 1. This order also positioned her as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister. However, amid growing dissent, the government has amended this decision.

On May 15, the state government issued a revised notification, canceling her re-employment as Tourism Director. Lalrodingi will continue to serve as OSD to the Chief Minister on a co-terminus basis, implying her tenure will align with the current government's term, holding the rank of a secretary in the state government.
