UP court sentences man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping minor

A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment and fined Rs 50,000 for raping a five-year-old girl in a village last year.

A special court here has sentenced a 28-year-old man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl in a village here last year.

Special Judge (POCSO Act) Jahendra Pal Singh on Thursday convicted the accused, Aman Kumar, and also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him, Public Prosecutor Sheilendri Rajput said on Friday.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on March 21, 2025, when the minor girl was playing in front of her house. Kumar, who hails from the same village, lured the child to his hut and raped her.

Hearing her cries, family members and villagers rushed to the spot, but the accused managed to flee from the scene.

Following the incident, the victim's uncle lodged an FIR against Kumar.
