Jharkhand: 5 held for kidnapping man in Giridih

Police in Jharkhand's Giridih district arrested five people and rescued a kidnapped man, Taslim Ansari, after a ransom demand of Rs 10 lakh was made.

Police have arrested five people and rescued a man allegedly kidnapped by them in Jharkhand's Giridih district, an officer said on Monday.

The action came following a complaint lodged by a relative of the man in which he said Taslim Ansari (35) was kidnapped by a group of people near Khandoli area and that they demanded a ransom, SP Vimal Kumar told reporters.

''A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was immediately constituted, and police successfully rescued Ansari from Chandna More,'' Kumar said.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that following the abduction, a ransom of Rs 10 lakh was demanded from the victim, he said.

Search is underway to trace two other accused, the SP said.
