The process, starting May 30, aims to make electoral rolls more accurate through comprehensive updates and community outreach.

Clear communication and outreach in regional languages play a crucial role in the successful execution of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, particularly in geographically complex states like Sikkim, stated Apurva Kumar Singh from the Election Commission of India.

Singh highlighted the media's pivotal role as an intermediary between the Commission and the public to ensure electoral rolls' thorough and effective updating. He emphasized that this revision is not just a summary but a comprehensive effort to make the rolls accurate and inclusive.

Regional language communication is vital for raising awareness and encouraging participation. The SIR aims to reflect actual voter data and ensure election preparedness, reducing potential disputes and improving polling efficiency.

Starting May 30, Sikkim will see booth-level officers visit homes until June 28 to distribute and collect enumeration forms. Draft rolls will be released on July 5, with a period for filing claims and objections until August 4. The final electoral rolls will be published on September 6.
