Javed Rana Commits to Investigating Forest Act Violations in Jammu

Javed Rana has reached out to those affected by the recent forest area clearances around Jammu city, pledging thorough investigations into the actions undertaken by forest and police officials. These actions have raised concerns over potential breaches of the Forest Rights Act (FRA).

Two inquiry committees have been set up, one within the tribal affairs department, and another within the forest department, to thoroughly examine the circumstances and the adherence to legal guidelines under the FRA. Rana assured the public that those responsible for any misconduct would face legal consequences.

Despite claims from senior officials and Lok Bhawan about being unaware of the demolition drive, Rana is committed to uncovering the truth. He emphasized the legal protections under the FRA for tribals and forest-dwellers, insisting that no entity can lawfully evict them without following due process.

Rana also discouraged communal interpretations of the situation, stressing the communal solidarity among all affected, regardless of religious affiliation. He reiterated the government's duty to support underprivileged communities, with or without direct application of the FRA.
