A heroic act by a head constable from the Delhi Police saw 13 people saved from a blaze in north Delhi's Burari area. Amar Singh, on night patrol when the fire broke out, showed immense bravery as he rushed to the scene to execute the rescue.
The incident took place in the early hours between May 16 and 17 at Daroga Market, where a blaze had erupted in a building's ground-floor shops, quickly spreading to the upper floors. Singh managed to spot two individuals trapped on the second floor amid thick smoke.
Without hesitation, Singh stopped a passing truck, used its roof to reach the victims via a balcony, and carried them to safety despite the dense smoke. After securing them, he proceeded to rescue 11 visually impaired students from a nearby building threatened by the flames.
Operating single-handedly, Singh led the evacuation through a staircase before the fire could reach them, demonstrating remarkable courage and quick thinking. His actions were crucial before firefighters and additional police arrived at the scene.
