India and US Discuss Indo-Pacific Security at Singapore Summit

In a bid to bolster Indo-Pacific security, Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh convened with US Admiral Samuel J Paparo in Singapore. Their conversation, held during the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026, centered on amplifying military ties and responding to emerging regional threats.

The Directorate of Public Relations from India's Ministry of Defence highlighted that this meeting underlined both nations' dedication to enhancing shared defence interests at a time when the Indo-Pacific is pivotal to worldwide strategic discourse.

As the primary maritime route, the Indo-Pacific's significance is evident with 60% of global trade traversing its waters. The recent engagements in Singapore follow the Quad foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi, emphasizing infrastructure development and maritime surveillance cooperation in the region.

During Singh's extensive visit to Singapore, which included various key discussions, he reiterated India's vision for regional security and strategic cooperation. This series of talks forms part of broader defence diplomacy pursuits.
