A Greek national has been accused of collaborating with an Iranian intelligence service to target a journalist from the UK-based television station, Iran International, according to British police officials.

Ioannis Aidinidis, 46, residing in Munich, Germany, was apprehended on May 16 and charged under Britain's National Security Act. He is slated to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later on Friday.

The charges relate to the suspected intention to harm a journalist who works for Iran International, a network critical of Tehran. Authorities assured the public that no broader threat is posed, although concerns remain among Persian-speaking media personnel in the UK.
