A bridge under construction across the Betwa river in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh collapsed in the aftermath of a storm, resulting in six fatalities and three injuries. The collapse occurred early Friday morning between Parsani and Kandaur villages, causing significant concern among officials and local authorities.
Following the tragic event, which saw labourers trapped under the debris, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Ltd's Assistant Engineer has been suspended over alleged negligence. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and stressed the importance of relief efforts, while also announcing financial aid for the victims' families. The incident has sparked concerns about safety measures in construction projects, and a thorough investigation has been initiated.
