In a successful and coordinated effort, rescue teams in Laos have safely retrieved four of the six men who were trapped in a flooded cave for ten days. The evacuation operation, involving both Lao and Thai rescuers, also included international support from neighbors in Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, and Australia.
The trapped villagers initially entered the cave in search of valuable minerals but were caught off guard by flash floods. Now, with two individuals still missing, rescuers continue their search amidst challenging conditions. Dive teams have managed to establish a staging area inside a large chamber, reaching it after navigating narrow and flooded passages. Ongoing efforts involve both searching for the missing and conducting safe evacuations through treacherous underwater routes.
