In a dramatic sequence of events on Saturday, TMC's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, found himself at the center of chaos during his visit to meet families affected by post-poll violence in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
As Banerjee made his way through the town, a large group of locals resorted to throwing stones, eggs, and shouting abuses at him. Despite the aggression, Banerjee was able to evade harm, thanks in part to a cricket helmet and the protection from his aides.
