A job offer from the Kerala Public Service Commission, which should have been a thrilling news for aspirant Abdul Majeed, arrived with an unexpected twist. Majeed, who has long retired, received a government job offer 18 years past his exam rank list expiration date.
Hailing from Kalikavu, Majeed was selected for a part-time junior Arabic teaching position. Unfortunately, the PSC exam he passed was held in 2005, and the rank list became obsolete in 2008. His dream of holding a government post was dashed as the delay rendered him ineligible due to his age.
Expressing his disappointment, Majeed explained that despite being on the rank list, he heard nothing for years, watching his hopes fade with time. Now over 60, the position opened up only after repeated recruitment attempts failed to fill the vacancy. Yet, with his birthday recorded in 1966, he has surpassed the permissible age to accept the offer.
