Ravneet Singh Bittu issued a public apology on Sunday to the Scheduled Caste community, seeking forgiveness for using inappropriate language during a recent incident in Dhuri. He admitted that his words were unsuitable for a minister and offered to apologize formally to the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission if necessary.
The controversy arose from a May 26 incident when Bittu had a heated exchange with police officers while seeking the release of BJP leader Onkar Singh, who was allegedly detained during the silent period of civic elections. Bittu's remarks faced backlash after a video of the incident surfaced on social media, prompting criticism from political opponents.
Bittu, speaking to reporters in Amritsar, emphasized that his words were a matter of regret and expressed his readiness to apologize to the Commission chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi. He assured the community that his intent was not to disrespect and pledged to use more appropriate language in the future.
