Punjab AAP leader Baltej Pannu on Thursday slammed Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for his ''ISI agent'' remark against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and demanded that he apologise.
Talking to reporters here, Pannu said Mann has undertaken many development works in Punjab and does not need any certificate from Bittu.
Bittu had on Wednesday lashed out at Mann for questioning Modi's foreign visits and said that as the country's prime minister, he has to travel the world. The Union minister claimed Mann was an ''ISI agent'' who wanted to put the country in danger.
Lashing out at Bittu, Pannu said, ''You are levelling an allegation against Bhagwant Mann. He does not need any certificate from you.''.
Bittu made the remark against the CM who undertook development works in the state, brought ''revolution'' in health and education sectors, and ensured free electricity for people, the AAP leader said.
No other chief minister in the country could carry out the kind of work undertaken by Mann in the past four years, he added.
''Are you calling him an ISI agent? Could an ISI agent undertake so many works for the people?'' Pannu asked Bittu.
''You (Bittu) should apologise to Punjabis for levelling this allegation,'' he said.
''What proof do you have to call Mann an ISI agent?'' Pannu asked Bittu.
After Mann slammed Modi for going abroad following his appeal to the citizens to postpone foreign travel, Bittu on Wednesday claimed that the CM wanted to obstruct the prime minister's work.
''Do you (Mann) compare yourself to the prime minister? Would you be able to do as much work as the PM? He is the country's PM and he has to travel the world. If he does not go out, then how will he resolve the issues of oil and gas?.
''What does he (Mann) know about? It is a serious matter. I want to say that this man is an ISI agent and he wants to put our country in danger at the instance of the ISI. He wants to create obstacles in the work of the PM. I want to ask people to keep an eye on him,'' Bittu had said.
Amid the crisis in West Asia, Modi has called for the judicious use of fuel and postponing of gold purchases and foreign travel. He has urged people to use metro rail services in cities, carpool, increase the use of electric vehicles and work from home to conserve fuel.
