Khattar Sets Ambitious Solar Target to Curb Power Loss in Tripura
Manohar Lal Khattar stressed the reduction of Tripura's power distribution losses and set a goal to install 200,000 rooftop solar systems by 2027. The minister called for action against illegal power connections and enhancing DISCOM efficiency to cut AT&C losses, while also reviewing urban infrastructure projects.

Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized the need to reduce Tripura's significant power distribution losses, currently at 26%, during a meeting that addressed both power and urban development sectors in the state. He announced the ambitious plan to implement 200,000 rooftop solar systems by 2027 to support future energy requirements.
Highlighting the severe impact of Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses, he urged the state's electricity board to combat power theft and illegal connections, and to adopt smart meter technology. Additional discussions included strengthening the infrastructure and expediting the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme to ensure a sustainable and reliable energy supply across Tripura.
Khattar also focused on urban development projects, proposing two road improvement initiatives with an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore, shared equally by the central and state governments. During his visit, he also celebrated the sixth anniversary of the PM SVANidhi programme, which supports street vendors, noting its substantial benefits for vendors in Tripura.
