Tensions Rise: Azerbaijanis Killed in Sea of Azov Attacks

A deadly strike in the Sea of Azov resulted in the deaths of five Azerbaijani citizens, with several others injured. According to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, while the attacks were in Taganrog Bay, the damaged cargo vessels are not under Azerbaijani ownership.

Ukraine's military confirmed its drones targeted ships in the Russian-held ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk earlier on the same day. The vessels were reportedly engaged in illicit activities such as grain theft and moving military supplies. Robert Brovdi, a commander in the Ukrainian drone forces, described how the targeted ships had identifiers obscured and navigation systems disabled.

The incidents underscore burgeoning tensions as military and logistical interests compete amidst ongoing conflict in the region.
