The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) convened the first meeting of SARTHI – Strategic Advisory and Reforms Taskforce for Holistic ITI Transformation – at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Chaired by Union Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhary, SARTHI aims to institutionalize reforms and strengthen India's vocational training ecosystem across Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Ministers from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh, along with senior officials and stakeholders from the skilling ecosystem, participated in the deliberations.

Shri Chaudhary highlighted that SARTHI is designed to connect existing innovation efforts, promote shared learning, and scale successful models nationwide. He emphasized that vocational education must align with industry demand, emerging sectors, and learner aspirations to ensure that every young person has access to high-quality, future-ready opportunities.

Focusing on Quality, Inclusivity, and Innovation

During the meeting, participants discussed strategies to improve ITI performance, institutional governance, quality assurance, and assessment processes. The taskforce explored ways to enhance practical learning, strengthen industry engagement, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship among learners.

Special focus was given to expanding access through innovative delivery models and increasing women's participation in vocational training. Discussions also addressed bridging education, skilling, and employment pathways, while leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and learner outcomes.

Collaborative Approach to Building a Future-Ready Workforce

The SARTHI meeting reflected a shared commitment among the Centre, States, and skilling stakeholders to build a more inclusive, outcome-oriented vocational training ecosystem. Senior officials from MSDE, DGT, NCVET, NSDC, UGC, and Skill Universities were present to provide guidance and support.

By combining policy reforms, industry collaboration, and technology-enabled solutions, SARTHI seeks to transform ITIs into dynamic institutions capable of meeting India's evolving workforce needs. The initiative underscores the government's focus on translating policy into implementation at scale, ensuring that India's youth are equipped with the skills required for a Viksit Bharat.
