Voting on Boeing's contract offer to its largest white-collar union is set to conclude on Friday, with results anticipated in the mid-afternoon in Seattle.

Boeing, aiming to prevent a strike by thousands of its engineers and technical staff, presented a proposal deemed more favorable than expected by some members, according to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA). Nonetheless, neither of the SPEEA bargaining unit councils for engineers and technicians endorsed the offer, with the technicians advising a rejection and engineers failing to meet the necessary majority for a recommendation.

The tentative contract, supported by SPEEA's negotiating team since July, contains terms like wage hikes tied to inflation and individual performance. However, it faces pushback due to capped inflation-based raises. Boeing's CEO emphasized early negotiations were meant to benefit employees and the firm while preventing project slowdowns, crucial for ongoing 737 Max 10 and 777-9 certification campaigns.
