Indonesian IS Fighters Want to Return Home

Indonesians who had joined the Islamic State in Syria want to return home because they are running out of food supplies and essentials. Sources reveal that there are about 50 Indonesians at the Kurdish-run Al Hol camp in Al Hasakah, Syria.

In a two minute video, a Mariam Abdullah asked for help for her and her family to return to Indonesia. She claimed that she and her family (husband and four children) are from Bandung, West Java. Mariam revealed that she and her children had fled Baghouz and Saifuddin, her husband was missing.

According to a recent report by the World Health Organization (WHO), there are about 67,000 internally displaced people who resided in the camp as of March 14. The camps are facing a shortage of health-care services because of the unexpected number of incoming arrivals. Moreover, WHO recorded 120 deaths in the camp, of which 80 per cent of the casualties were children aged under five years.
