Goddy Jedy-Agba, Minister of State for Power Nigeria, said that the federal government is advancing its policies to diversify the energy sector in the country at Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State, according to a report by ESI Africa.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 60kWp solar hybrid mini-grid power plant, he explained that the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the implementing agency, had efficiently put the capital in the project to maintain and provide safe, clean, and reliable energy to communities.

He further asserted the role of renewable energy in accelerating energy access across the country by noting the plan to ensure optimization of available renewable energy resources in the country. He also lauded REA's commitment to commence and complete several off-grid projects that would encourage facilities among the beneficiaries.

“No stone will be left unturned in ensuring that unserved and underserved communities continue to enjoy basic amenities such as stable power. We must continue to leverage this clean, safe and reliable energy technologies,” he stated.

Further adding, Ahmad Salihijo, the managing director of REA, said that the project was deployed under keen capital appropriation. He also urged the Obudu Ranch management and the people to optimize the safe, clean, reliable energy from the intervention.

“Only when used productively and sustainably will the community witness the full impact of energy,” the Salihijo added.
