3 held with ganja worth Rs 1.68 cr from truck en-route to Maharashtra

Over 1,000 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.68 crore allegedly being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra in a truck was seized and three people were arrested, directorate of revenue intelligence said Thursday. The lorry carrying the narcotic concealed under bricks was intercepted near here Wednesday by the DRI sleuths acting on a tip-off, a press release said here.
The 1,121 kg of the cannabis was being smuggled from Sileru in the state to Sholapur in Maharashtra, the release said. The drug and the vehicle were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, it said adding that three people were arrested.
