HC transfers Madurai collector

Madurai High Court on Saturday transferred Madurai collector after hearing a petition filed by CPI(M) candidate from the constituency. The petitioner had accused the officer of in-action after a tehsildar allegedly took photocopies of some documents from a storage room next to the strong room on Friday.

Political parties protested the decision and demanded for an investigation in the matter. The Madurai Lok Sabha constituency had gone to polls on April 20 in the second phase of elections. Counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
