Gold worth Rs 34.75 lakh seized at Mangaluru Airport

Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport have seized 24-carat gold valued at Rs 34.75 lakh on Tuesday, according to an official statement.
The weight of the confiscated gold is 1052.90 grams. "The Customs officials at Mangaluru International airport seized foreign origin gold 24KT weighing 1052.90 gms net and valued 34.75 lacs. It was concealed as 2 mercury coated ingots in the motor of Nikai brand mixer in check-in luggage, which arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight," Customs Department said in a statement. No information has been revealed regarding any arrest in the case or the identity of the luggage's owner.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
