The 60-year-old grandmother of a witness in a murder case registered in Meerut, was Friday injured after being shot at by some assailants in Sagarpur here, police said. The elderly woman and her granddaughter were on their way to a nearby temple when the incident took place at Durgapuri Park at around 5.30 am.

Three bike-borne assailants shot at the witness but the bullet hit her grandmother, police said, adding that the woman was rushed to DDU hospital. Efforts are on to nab the assailants, they said. 

Fire breaks out in flat, one injured

A fire broke out in a flat in Shahdara's Dilshad Colony area early Friday, fire officials said.

We received information at 3.48 am and two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior fire official said, adding that the fire was doused by 4.40 am. Arun (39) sustained burn injuries on his face, legs and hands and was admitted to GTB hospital. His condition is stable, police said. 

Man held for selling marijuana

A 33-year-old man was arrested from outer Delhi for selling marijuana, police said Friday.

Rajesh (33), a resident of Sultanpuri was arrested on Thursday and 500 grams of marijuana was seized from him, police said. We received a tip-off that he would be coming to F-block, Sultanpuri. A trap was laid and he was arrested, they said. 

One arrested for stealing two-wheelers

A 23-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly stealing two-wheelers, police said Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap at Surakh Pur and arrested Surender, a resident of Najafgarh Park, on Thursday morning, they said. A stolen motorcycle along with a scooter were recovered, they added.

Man arrested for selling illicit liquor

 A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday from Tilak Nagar area for selling illicit liquor, police said.

Naresh, a resident of Budh Vihar, was arrested near Keshopur Sabzi Mandi, after police received an information that he would be coming there, a senior officer said. A total of 180 cartons carrying 9,000 quarters of illicit liquor were seized along a car in which they were being transported, they said.
