CLIMATE-T'gana sees 33% deficiency in rainfall since June 1

Almost 10 days into July, Telangana has witnessed a 33 percent deficiency in rainfall, causing concern over the shortage of water in the state. During the current southwest monsoon season, beginning June 1 to July 9, the state received 126.6 percent rainfall against normal rainfall of 189.4 which is a -33 percent departure, according to the Met center here Tuesday.

Only Karimnagar and Kumram Bheem districts in the state received excess rain of six percent above normal. The deficiency in rainfall is expected to impact Kharif operations in view of the loss of time.

The Met Office had earlier said the overall rainfall during the southwest monsoon season is expected to be normal.
