Odisha cop arrested for demanding bribe, suspended

An officer of the Odisha Police was arrested and suspended from duty on Friday inMalkangiri district for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

DGP R P Sharma suspended Ranjan Kumar Sahoo,inspector-in-charge of Malkangiri police station after he was caught by anti-corruption sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a college director on Thursday.

Sahoo had allegedly demanded the amount from BidyutCharan Dash, who is an accused in a fake certificate case, to minimize the quantum of his offense, while submitting the charge sheet to court, police said.
