Arunachal's Pasighat becomes second ODF town in state

Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district has become the second town in the state to be declared as Open Defecation Free (ODF), officials said on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh, also the administrator of the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC), made the declaration recently, they said.
Singh had said that it was a herculean task to achieve the ODF tag under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and credited the success to the town residents. She had said hygiene of the town will be maintained.
Pasighat has been chosen for the Smart City project along with Itanagar. Tawang near the India-China border was the first town in the state to be declared ODF in 2017.
The same year, Arunachal Pradesh was declared ODF under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural)..
