Pseudo police official held Hyderabad, Aug 7 (PTI): A 43-year-old man was Wednesday arrested here for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of securing them jobs in the police department by masquerading as a police officer. Police seized fake ID cards, including those of police and press, walkie talkie, mobile phone and Rs 85,000 from the accused Syed Tanveer Hussain Razvi, a police release said.

The accused posed himself as Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and collected money varying from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh from people and promised them jobs as constable and Home Guard in the Police Department. He also cheated people by promising them to get vehicles at cheaper rates during police auction and collected money from them, it said.

The accused also used to introduce himself as a Journalist and as President of International Human Rights Association, police said. Five cases have been registered against him in Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates, according to the release..
