Improved toilets in NFR trains for better passenger experience

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has added more amenities in train toilets to provide the passengers with a better experience during a train journey, an official said on Thursday. The NFR also installed aesthetically designed fittings and panel works in coaches for a better ambience.
Dustbins have been provided in the lavatories of all AC and Non-AC coaches maintained by the railway zone and plans are afoot to provide similar facility near the doors in a phased manner, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer PJ Sharma said here. Stainless steel mugs with anti-theft chain have been provided in the lavatories of all AC and Non AC coaches as passengers often faces problem due to theft of mugs there, Sharma said.
All toilets of AC coaches and Western style toilets of all Non-AC coaches have also been provided with health faucets to reduce the stink, he said. For the assistance of visually impaired passengers, signage superimposed with Braille scripts is being provided in all coaches, while new model coaches come with Braille signage fitted in them.
On Board House-Keeping Service (OBHS) has been provided in all the 62 pairs of mail/express trains run by the NFR, the CPRO said. Apart from the scheduled cleaning of coaches twice a day, a passenger can obtain an un-scheduled cleaning from the OBHS by sending an SMS "CLEAN
