Ghana is focussing to strengthen its ties with West Africa’s landlocked country, Burkina Faso. According to Mahamudu Bawumia, the current Vice President of Ghana, the government is undertaking a number of projects to develop relations between the countries.
The VP Mahamudu Bawumia said that Ghana is committed to ensure greater bilateral relations with Burkina Faso through the 225 KV Bolgatanga (colloquially called Bolga) to Ouagadougou (capital of Burkina Faso) power interconnection project. It (the project) will result up to 100 MW of power supplied directly to the neighbouring country from Ghana, Graphic Online reported.
On the other hand, a new project on railway connectivity linking both the countries has also been designed. This will enhance cross-border trade and regional integration.
Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Alpha Barry was in Ghana on December 14. His session with Bawumia had varied topics including economic, trade, energy, politics, infrastructure, water resources, agriculture, environment, diplomatic relations etc.
