Collapse of a deadly mine in Angola has left 30 people dead. A mine collapsed at Chipindo municipality in the country's South-West Huila province, where state radio, Radio Nacional de Angola (RNA), reported illegal miners were working.

RNA reported that the mine collapsed due to ground humidity. The miners were not supposed to mine for gold in the locality. Many illegal miners are attracted to the Huila province as the entire place is rich in mineral resources including gold, diamond, iron, mica, manganese, black granite and kaolin.

Mine collapsing and flooding are common in southern Africa. In Zimbabwe, an incident killed at 24 illegal miners.
