Biendi Maganga Moussavou, Gabon's Agriculture Minister said on May 2 that new prospects for agricultural cooperation between China and his country were being planned.
Maganga Moussavou also mentioned the imminent project to build an Agricultural Development and Experimentation Centre in Kango, a locality located about 100 kilometres from Libreville.
"We looked at how to deepen this cooperation with multiple possibilities, particularly in terms of research, development and implementation of value chains that allow aggregating Gabonese planters around SMEs, but especially the big agricultural company," his Chinese counterpart Han Changfu said, as reported by Xinhua.
For him, "this project aims to shape a model that would allow a sharing of know-how between Chinese experts in the field and planters Gabonese." "With this trained workforce, the Gabonese authorities hope to ensure that we have product standards that satisfy both the local market and international consumers," the minister opined.
He also took the opportunity to salute the Belt and Road Initiative (ICR) launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping. A project, he said, which 'fits perfectly' with the vision of Gabonese President Ali Bongo 'which is to promote a Green Africa, an Africa in which we go environmental conservation and industrial development,' Xinhua noted.
