Security Council fails to adopt Russian draft resolution on situation in Gaza

The UN Security Council on Monday evening failed to adopt a resolution proposed by Russia on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, after it failed to secure the required number of votes in favour. For the Council to adopt a resolution, the proposal must receive at least nine votes in favour, with no permanent member opposing.
