Taiwan president appoints Alexander Yui as representative to US

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday appointed Taiwan's representative to the European Union Alexander Yui as the island's new de facto ambassador to the United States, replacing Hsiao Bi-khim who is running for the vice presidency.
Vice Foreign Minister Roy Lee was appointed as representative to the EU.
