Delhi BJP leaders and workers staged a protest near the AAP headquarters on DDU Marg here on Friday, alleging corruption in the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government.
Just a few hundred metres away, AAP workers and leaders protested at the BJP headquarters over alleged rigging of the recently held mayoral polls in Chandigarh.
BJP workers raised slogans against Kejriwal and demanded his resignation.
''The Kejriwal government has become synonymous with corruption. Every day, a scam of the government is exposed before the people,'' Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said.
The AAP dispensation is involved in scams related to liquor as well as drinking water, he charged, adding that a scam has taken place in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the patronage of the Kejriwal government.
Addressing protesters, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramveer Singh Bidhuri said that Kejriwal will be put behind bars very soon like his former deputy Manish Sisodia.
Sisodia has been in jail since February last year in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
Bidhuri said the people of Delhi will respond to the AAP government's corruption by helping the BJP win all the seven seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
A large number of BJP workers and leaders, including party MLAs, councillors and state office-bearers participated in the protest.
Raising slogans against Kejriwal and the AAP, the protesters tried to march towards the ruling party's office but were stopped at a police barricade. Several BJP leaders, including Sachdeva, were detained but released later.
South Delhi BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri said during the protest that the BJP will continue to protest as long as the Delhi chief minister evades responsibility for corruption in his government.
